This utility pole snapped after a tractor trailer truck collected drooping lines when a tree fell into the wires on Main Street.
Portions of the Village of Penn Yan are without power, telephone and internet service this afternoon after part of a tree fell into wires, causing another chain of events.
Penn Yan Fire Chief on the scene Bill LaRock, says a tree on the west side of Main Street near the intersection with Clinton, fell into wires. As the wires drooped, a northbound tractor-trailer truck that was turning from Main Street to Clinton Street caught some of them, snapping the utility pole, bringing down the wires, the traffic signal at the intersection, the signal pole at the northeast corner of the intersection and additional wires down Clinton Street.
No one was injured.
Portions of Main and Clinton Street are blocked while crews work on restoring power.
Village officials have not stated an estimate for when repairs will be completed. As more information becomes available, we will update this news article here and post information on The Chronicle-Express facebook page.
